Week 19 and 20... Special Edition

Well I figured that seeing as how I am leaving for Prague and Bohemia tomorrow that I had better give you a week and a half's news now so that I can give you all the voyage gossip when I get back from my tour :D Ok so since we last spoke I have been in Exam Blockus at school, basically it means that I just go to school when I have exams, (which was 4 days out of 10) So I have been pretty much lounging around and enjoying the heat that has FINALLY gotten to Belgium while all you Aussies freeze your butts off :D haha!!!

So Wednesday was titles day in Belgium, basically it is the day when all the old students who are going back home hand down their exchanger titles to the new ones (aussies and columbians mostly) the titles are quite a large affair and it is expected that every student go. The titles that were given out were: Beer King, Queen Slut, Godfather, Queen Bitch, Horn Dog, Best Newie and Godmother. There were at least 4 that were given to Australians :D Fortunately for me, I wasn't bestowed with any of these titles but some of my friends were. After that it was a long afternoon bar hopping and dancing to a song called "tomber la chemise" basically it means "fall the shirt" ad when the song plays you have to watch out or you will be relieved of your shirt. Interesting to see and rather scary at the same time, but a good day had by all!

Then Friday was the "Féte du DouDou" in Mons, it is basically the biggest drinking festival the town has each year and it goes from Friday 9am until Sunday or rather Monday morning. So me and some other exchange students decided that we would go. It was INSANE! you couldn't move 5 metres in under half an hour, there were people EVERYWHERE and when they finally cleared, the amount of beer cups left on the street was.... well it left me spechless! see for yourself! So that is basically what we did from Friday night until Sunday night. A lot of fun had by all and friendships made that will last a lifetime.

After the DouDou, Kendall, my Kiwi friend came and stayed at my house for 2 days, we had a great time and when she left Tuesday morning, I left too :D I went to Lille for the day to see Sage, a friend from Australia who just happens to be in France on exchange and actually lives closer to me here than what he does back home! We had a great day wandering the shops and talking about anything and everything. So that has been my week and a half, I will write again when I get back from my voyage, I am sure there will be a lot to write.
Until then, love and miss you all heaps!

Week 18... ROTARY

Papa

Maman

Justine (sister)

Jerome (brother)

Well seeing as this week not much has happened, I put on some family photos to show you all... So this week on Saturday was the district conference of my Rotary at Ath, another beautiful reigion in Belgium. There were over 80 host students there, most of whom were saying goodbye for the last time before they were off back home. As for the rest of us who are left (3 Aussies and a Columbian) we have a chance in December to win the Student of the Year award. This means that we get given a grant of 500Euro to come back to Belgium any time in the next 5 years. It will be really good to see who gets it, especially considering that there are only four of us. Competition is going to be FIERCE! Anyway, we had a great afternoon and said goodbye to some incredible people that none of us will ever forget. Well unfortunately, that is it this week, I had a nice quiet week for a change. But next week promises to be full of excitement. So until then. Take care. Bye

Week 17... the original land of the Sheep

Well this week has gone so fast!!
Monday and Tuesday at school went so fast. It seems like I am never there and I haven't had a Frida night bar session for over a MONTH! Hopefully next week will be a little more normal. Anyway, back to this week. Wednesday rolled around and I was up at 4am as I had to leave the house at 5 to catch a plane to the beautiful country of Ireland where I would see my Toni! So I arrived at the airport at 6 for my flight at 7 and went through customs etc etc. Then when I went to check in they informed me that my flight was delayed and they weren't sure exactly how long it would be. So 2 hours of being bored in the departure lounge passed and a man came arround with information to refund our tickets if we needed to... another 2 hours passed with nothing to do and the airline gave everyone still waiting 5Euro to spend in the shop (that had JUST opened) So that was that and finally at 11.30 my flight began to board. It was half empty and I had 3 seats to myself! So I FINALLY got to Dublin and after the excessive wait to get through customs because I didn't have an EU passport!! I finally got on my bus to Letterkenny where Toni would be waiting for me. So instead of arriving at 12 noon as planned, at 5.30pm I arrived and was greeted by Toni, Russell and Robin. And we set out for the house. It turned out to be a very scenic country though unfortunately I was miles from any of the famous points. All in all it was a great 5 days and a memory to last forever, I met a lot of Toni's family and just had a great time catching up with her.
Then Monday was a public holiday and so Maman, Papa, Justine and I went for an afternoon sunbaking on their boat.
So back to school tomorrow to see all my friends. Until next week.
Missing you all xxx
